TEXT: Proverbs 14:12
THEME: ONLY A LIFE IN CHRIST CAN BRING TRUE JOY
MEMORISE: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat" (Matthew 7:13)
The world and its many distractions can be very deceptive for the carnal soul. Many get caught up in the vanity that the world offers, they seek its many lusts such as; money, fame, power, pleasure, material possessions and many more. They forget that all these things are of fleeting value.
The fashion of today will not be the fashion of tomorrow. Many children of today do not know what a music or video tape/cassette player is or looks like. That is because new technology has replaced it. Yet some years back the ownership of a cassette or video player gave some people sleepless nights.
Many people think that the attainment of all these things will bring happiness and peace to them. While money may make life easier since you will not be worrying about how to met your basic needs, money in itself does not bring happiness. The same goes for all the material things we often lust after.
Neither does power or fame bring joy or happiness. Most people spend their productive lives looking for these things because they erroneously believe they will bring them happiness. Everything takes a back seat in their lives. They have no time for God or the things of God. They can do anything to get wealth and power. This is unfortunate. Firstly, many do not obtain this dream and end up unhappy because of it. For those that manage to eventually get there, they become consumed in making sure that they do not fall from their new positions. They also soon find out that money does not bring true joy.
While many maybe envying them from afar, they often experience a sense of emptiness and longing for something more. Many commit suicide, turn to drugs, alcohol or reckless living just to fill that void. What they don't know is that the missing part of the puzzle is Jesus Christ. It is only in Him can we find true joy.
A poor man in Christ is richer than a wealthy man without Christ. This is because Christ supplies our every need beyond what money can buy. Most of all He granted us salvation and a hope of a glorious future. Heaven and earth will pass away but His love for us is everlasting. That is true joy. Make sure that you are in Christ today so that true joy can be yours.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayerpoints:
1. Dear Lord, give me the grace to diligently seek and trust in you for true happiness in Jesus name.
2. I rebuke all worldly distractions and plan of the enemy to make me miss heaven in Jesus name.
3. I pray for my G. O and Mummy in the Lord and their children that your joy shall be their portion all the days of their life, in Jesus name.
